Wedoany.com Report-Jan 11,Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) said on Monday that turbine installation has been successfully completed at its jointly-owned Jeonnam 1 offshore wind project in South Korea.

The complex, touted as the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in the Asian country, is on track to begin commercial operations in the first half of this year.

Located off the coast of Shinan County, Jeonnam Province, will be capable of powering about 60,000 homes annually, once commissioned. The plant’s construction was initiated in early 2023 and turbine installation commenced in September last year, with first power produced several months later.

Jeonnam 1 is a 51/49 joint venture between South Korean conglomerate SK E&S and CIP. It has been developed by a joint team including CIP’s fund Copenhagen Infrastructure III; Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), the exclusive offshore wind development partner to CIP; and SK E&S.

The project already has a grid-connection deal with state-owned utility KEPCO and a 20-year fixed-price offtake agreement with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
